Thanks goes out to everyone who filled out our survey last week. We are back in town from Chicago (found out that we booked a wedding while we were gone, yipee!) and are trying to catch back up. Fall is always, INSANE, even though we try to stay on top of it. Anyway, on to the fun stuff.

After tallying the results and sifting through a complex mathematical formula derived by my husband, the winner of our iTunes gift card is ………… Amanda Cofer! I must say I think she is very deserving, because according to her record, she checks our blog every single day. Wow, that’s committment. The survey was very helpful, mostly determining our audience and what people are looking for in our posts.

a few things that we learned:

girls like my blog the most

pictures of weddings and families seems to be the biggest draw, but everything else was a close second

there is absolutely no rhyme or reason as to how people get to my blog

people think my kids are hilarious (which I already knew)

finally, for no other reason than he is adorably hunky, tomorrow is my son’s last soccer game of the season. my husband is really sad.

we have a new employee that has taken up residence in our photography business in the past month. she goes by the name of brookerobinsonproofing.com. running the show behind the scenes at our new proofing site is the wonderful ‘Pickpic Cart‘ from WHCC.

after our move away from our old bludomain site, we were forced to look at some new options for our client proofing. honestly, i was relieved. i was never very thrilled with the bludomain proofing because it was very basic and quite clunky. the ability to customize and brand our proofing site gives us a very personal feel and lots of options.

some of our favorite qualities of our new site are:

1. we don’t pay any commissions on sale, just a monthly fee to host it.
2. the user interface is beautiful. pick your favorites. view a personalized crop. compare two pictures side by side. on and on and on…
3. each clients proofs can be viewed from the proofing homepage or given its own web address, which makes it very easy to pass on to friends and family.
4. we are able to have distinctive pricing for our portrait and wedding proofing, offering our clients the best value for each.
5. there are several ways to view the images: as a large group, slide show mode, or by image comparison.
6. there are lots and lots of extra options: gift certificates, seasonal specials or discounts, google analytics, and more.

about a year and a half ago, one of our photographer friends gave us a call. as we listened, he began to go on and on about this new album company that he had found and fell in love with. after seeing some of their products, it is easy to see why.

kiss wedding books are a somewhat new kid on the block. they have been around for a few years, but like most wedding products, they were conceived and designed by former and current wedding professionals. i believe that they chose the name KISS for several reasons.

1. kissing obviously has love and wedding implications tied to it.
2. when you see these albums, you want to kiss it because it is so spectacular!
3. there is an old acronym that follows the letters of K.I.S.S. “Keep It Simple Stupid”

when you check out the KISS website you are immediately greeted by the statement, “Ooh Lah Simple.” I absolutely love their philosophy. In a Starbucks world of 87,000 different coffee combinations, KISS wedding albums keep it extraordinarily simple.

4 albums sizes (4×4 – 8×8 – 10×10 – 12×12) and 7 colors to choose from. that’s it!

all of the books are simple, square, leather, and thick with pages that make your wedding pictures POP. we have chosen to offer these albums exclusively as our only wedding book option. honestly, when you hold one of the books in your hand, you really don’t want anything less. the baseline starting album has 30 pages in it. we feel this is barely enough space to tell your wedding story well in a a book format. we try and keep to the simple philosophy and don’t cram a lot of images onto one page or bring many trendy design elements into our books. we want it to still be a family classic when your kids head off to college (except maybe for the grooms tuxedo!)

we leave out our kiss wedding books as an option for our wedding couples, but highly recommend everyone choosing to purchase one. there are smaller options (4×4) that make great books for parents or even bridesmaids. the design process is extremely simple, allowing you to pick out your favorite 50-60 wedding images as a base. if you need more, we can add more pages. once it is designed, there is a short approval process, then off to print! check out all the kissing wedding goodness over at the kiss website.
