brooke robinson

what can i say...my life is full! i have been extremely blessed to be a wife, mother, and photographer and every single day is different, yet somehow, oddly the same :)

having lived in NW Arkansas since college, i began taking senior pictures in 2001 and quickly moved into families and weddings. the creative process and time with people have been a wonderful venue for me to engage artistically.

as my time with my family and work as a photographer grows, so too will this blog. it will hopefully serve as a small window into my life and the lives of those people that i'm fortunate enough to exchange stories with.

Hayley | Fayetteville Senior

I’m catching up on a bit of senior portrait blogging at the moment as I can just feel the next season of taking pictures approaching. its been so fun to receive several phone calls the past few days from students who are about to graduate high school and jump headfirst into their next season of life. i love the tradition of capturing what life was like at 18. it is always so fun to enter into someone’s home and be able to look back and see their children all grown up (mostly!)

with spring approaching, warmer weather coming, and flowers about to start blooming, now is the time to get those pictures taken care of before graduation! Hayley and some of her favorite people met me at Wilson Park where we took some adorable pictures recently. she also was joined by a couple of her friends, including Erin, who i photographed back in early Fall. as you can see, big smiles come easy for this crew!

which one is which?

this past year has marked a wonderful change for me, changing profoundly the way that i’m approaching my wedding day photography. for most of my weddings, my sister and i have the pleasure of teaming up and bringing a strong creative and often hilarious element to each couples big day. a bit of a back story is appropriate in order to fill everyone in.

Kym got her start in Kansas City in the late 90s. While working at a clothing boutique in Kansas City a customer came in and started a conversation with Kym about her mother’s photography studio called Antisdels and an opening that they may have for kym to come and do sales at the studio.  A couple of days later Kym went and visited the studio and immediately fell in love with everything she saw.

For the first couple of weeks she was doing sales but it was not too long before she found her way behind the camera. Sana and her daugther Kia trained kym in the art of photography. shortly thereafter, kym began taking pictures on her own and quickly built a strong clientele in Kansas City. about this time, i entered the photography picture. at first it was just to be kym’s portrait subject, but like all little sisters do, i soon followed her behind the camera. our growth together in our skills technically, photoshop, and artistic portrait placement was a bond that was extremely beneficial to both of us.

kym eventually moved to colorado and began the process of building a new business. in the meantime, i was doing the same in nw arkansas. a few senior pictures quickly turned into inquiries for family portraits. weddings seemed too impossible. a job that was left for only those with years of training. while the technical skills were being learned, the people and posing pieces where already intact. after all, being a sorority girl myself, oohing and aahing is what makes the wedding memorable! so i jumped in. as i look back, i’m sad at how little i knew, but i knew that i loved making brides feel beautiful.

so, back to today. kym moved back to nw arkansas (we did both cheer for the hogs at one point). she is currently living in eureka springs and doing a wonderful job at providing a unique senior experience there. we are also working together on most all of my weddings. kym generally grabs the guys, poses of killer group shots, and helps man either the front or the back of the ceremony. that totally frees me up to hang close to the bride and bridesmaids, work with the families, and capture all the emotion from the day.

so that’s the brooke robinson wedding crew. we always bring two photographers and what sister wouldn’t love to have her big sis right by her side photographing all the joy and memories of a wedding day!

thanks so much to our friends Jason and Kori Hudson for grabbing this picture of us. You guys are the best!

The Addition Shop

“Jewelry is the window into the secret corners of who a girl desires to be.”

- ginny mooney -

what girl doesn’t love jewelry. my two daughters have collected buckets of beads, rings, and necklaces over the past couple of years. it makes a statement about who you are and can bring that added touch of individuality and attention that all girls crave. my dear friend ginny has an amazing gift. seemingly every spring and fall she reaches down to her inner core of creativity and births a new line of fashion jewelry that i cannot help but squeal over. i love everything she does. i think the past three christmases all the girls in my family have been given jewelry from the addition shop.

i recently got to take some pictures for the new spring line with ginny and some of my dear other friends. my sister-in-law turned on her inner model (still can’t figure out why she’s never done more of this). while i can’t divulge all of the upcoming pieces, i did want to share a few bits of goodies here. you can see all of these a more soon over at theadditionshop.com the jewelry will be for sale also at maude boutique in fayetteville and companions boutique in little rock.

here are a few options to get to know the gifted and talented ginny a little better ::

Valentines

by now many of our friends and family have received our family’s annual valentines card. it seemed like the weather this year was the biggest stinker of them all. so instead of fighting it, we just embraced it! the ice did cause our cards to arrive at home a day late, but they were totally worth it!

one of the two labs that we use (whcc) was running a special the week before v-day, so we took full advantage and ordered an amazing two-sided 5×7 card with a pearl finish. holy moly it was gorgeous! we’ve really enjoyed hearing from our friends and family as the card has slowly trickled out across the country.

why a valentines card you ask? i think the main reason is that during our crazy christmas season it is the one thing that we can make room for in another place during the year. between two family birthdays, picture orders and christmas shopping our december is just packed! also, it is so fun to get a little something that may be unexpected, so a family valentines card it is! this is the fourth installment for our card and i’m sure many more to come.

my dear friend cassie | headshots

i first met Cassie back in ‘95 when we were both drama majors at the UofA. I admired her from a distance for about half a year (mostly because i was infatuated with her arm muscles). we continued to have classes together and quickly became companions trying to navigate the treacherous road of acting, drama, costumes, and stage production.

In 1999 i started working for Fellowship Bible Church, serving to bring some creativity and life to the weekly services held there. one day i bumped into Cassie in walmart and it hit me that she would be fantastic at helping with some of the drama needs at fellowship. we had an unbelievable time working together for almost 5 years and when i had my first little girl cassie actually just took over my job! she is such a fantastic actress and has recently headed up the 540 Film Fest held last November.

Cassie stopped by last week needing some new headshots and this is what i captured in about 15 min. imagine how much fun we could have had if we had all day to shoot! (but total we’ve got 6 kids so we had to shoot fast). Cassie you are such a hottie! my camera even has a crush on you!

kevie & erik | rogers, arkansas wedding

kevie and erik were married at fellowship bible church in rogers, arkansas on december 20. both attended JBU in Siloam and are set to graduate in May after Erik finishes his Youth Ministry degree. i have know the rapiers for over 10 years and i would challenge you to find a family that is more talented and gracious than them. kevie looked stunning on her wedding day and you can just see how much she and erik have that newlywed glow about them.

i love the series when kevie and erik see each other for the first time. kevie’s mom and bridesmaids got to watch as she flirted with him a bit and then they turned on the show!

as always, a huge THANK YOU to the Rapiers and Francos for allowing me to document your wedding day. also, to my big sis kym, who is amazing as my second shooter on wedding days!

kevie…oh-my-fabulous…

i’ve almost completed the editing of all of kevie’s pictures from her wedding around Christmas, but just couldn’t resist putting this one on display. what a stunner! kevie and erik has a beautiful wedding at fellowship, but what was more impressive was the beauty they displayed for each other on their wedding day. you could see on their faces and the smiles of the friends and family around them that without a doubt, they were overjoyed to be committing their lives to each other.

Henry | Fayetteville Family

katie and i go way back which made this photo shoot such a treat. both of our older sisters were best friends in college. we shared that little sister bond, watching our older sisters cheer for the University of Arkansas.

fun fact about katie: her granddad actually started the printing company that i’ve been using for my picture printing needs. millerslab has been such a huge part of my business over the years and allows me to upload everything from home and then the pictures are at my door two days later! with “millers” being available only to select photographers, they also opened a division called mpix several years ago that allows the everyday family to have access to most of their amazing products. all this and we have katie’s granddad to thank for it!

former bride and future bride

i received a couple of emails in the past few days, one from a former bride who currently lives in Chicago and one who is getting married on June 5th this summer. what a treat to see that they had framed many of their pictures and had hung them in their house. it is so rare that i actually get to see the final stage of the whole picture process. it is easy to get caught up in the booking, shooting, editing, and ordering that i can easily forget that the whole purpose of photography is to bless someone’s home or office. what a wonderful bonus today to get to see some art proudly displayed! thanks Mikki and Natalie, you made my day.

belline | fayetteville family

so my new dear friend ulrika, who i get to see almost daily at the gym, asked me to help her update her families photo collection. i said, “with a family as gorgeous as yours, i can’t take a bad picture!” so we braved the cold weather and headed out to see how many killer shots we could get in 45 min. i mean wow! this family is stunning and you can tell how much fun they have together.

look out…
here they come…
cutie, cutie…

this one says it all!
