what can i say...my life is full! i have been extremely blessed to be a wife, mother, and photographer and every single day is different, yet somehow, oddly the same :)

having lived in NW Arkansas since college, i began taking senior pictures in 2001 and quickly moved into families and weddings. the creative process and time with people have been a wonderful venue for me to engage artistically.

as my time with my family and work as a photographer grows, so too will this blog. it will hopefully serve as a small window into my life and the lives of those people that i'm fortunate enough to exchange stories with.

kevie & erik | rogers, arkansas wedding

kevie and erik were married at fellowship bible church in rogers, arkansas on december 20. both attended JBU in Siloam and are set to graduate in May after Erik finishes his Youth Ministry degree. i have know the rapiers for over 10 years and i would challenge you to find a family that is more talented and gracious than them. kevie looked stunning on her wedding day and you can just see how much she and erik have that newlywed glow about them.

i love the series when kevie and erik see each other for the first time. kevie’s mom and bridesmaids got to watch as she flirted with him a bit and then they turned on the show!

as always, a huge THANK YOU to the Rapiers and Francos for allowing me to document your wedding day. also, to my big sis kym, who is amazing as my second shooter on wedding days!

kevie…oh-my-fabulous…

i’ve almost completed the editing of all of kevie’s pictures from her wedding around Christmas, but just couldn’t resist putting this one on display. what a stunner! kevie and erik has a beautiful wedding at fellowship, but what was more impressive was the beauty they displayed for each other on their wedding day. you could see on their faces and the smiles of the friends and family around them that without a doubt, they were overjoyed to be committing their lives to each other.

Henry | Fayetteville Family

katie and i go way back which made this photo shoot such a treat. both of our older sisters were best friends in college. we shared that little sister bond, watching our older sisters cheer for the University of Arkansas.

fun fact about katie: her granddad actually started the printing company that i’ve been using for my picture printing needs. millerslab has been such a huge part of my business over the years and allows me to upload everything from home and then the pictures are at my door two days later! with “millers” being available only to select photographers, they also opened a division called mpix several years ago that allows the everyday family to have access to most of their amazing products. all this and we have katie’s granddad to thank for it!

former bride and future bride

i received a couple of emails in the past few days, one from a former bride who currently lives in Chicago and one who is getting married on June 5th this summer. what a treat to see that they had framed many of their pictures and had hung them in their house. it is so rare that i actually get to see the final stage of the whole picture process. it is easy to get caught up in the booking, shooting, editing, and ordering that i can easily forget that the whole purpose of photography is to bless someone’s home or office. what a wonderful bonus today to get to see some art proudly displayed! thanks Mikki and Natalie, you made my day.

belline | fayetteville family

so my new dear friend ulrika, who i get to see almost daily at the gym, asked me to help her update her families photo collection. i said, “with a family as gorgeous as yours, i can’t take a bad picture!” so we braved the cold weather and headed out to see how many killer shots we could get in 45 min. i mean wow! this family is stunning and you can tell how much fun they have together.

look out…
here they come…
cutie, cutie…

this one says it all!

Ben & Stephanie | Fayetteville Engagement

this afternoon i will be traveling to Cooper Chapel for Ben and Stephanie’s wedding. i can’t wait to see the grounds and beautiful woods with all the snow that is still in northwest arkansas! Ben and Stephanie are an amazing couple and wanted to be able to be very creative in their pictures for their engagement and wedding. its going to be a great afternoon!

Year in Review: My Family

in case you weren’t aware or haven’t ever seen, i have a pretty incredible family. my husband finley and i have three young kids, who are obviously not shy from the camera. we pack a lot into our days. from kindergarten & dress up to playing soccer & star wars to eating fruit snacks & napping, our life is full and blessed. these are a few of my favorite images and memories from this past year. they all make me smile :)

i was able to pull of an 80’s party for my birthday back in february. all of our friends dressed up and we had some dancing, picture taking, and 80’s trivia. my two sisters (kym & martha [in-law]) really rocked it out here. my facebook album 88mph (from back to the future of course) has all the rest.

here’s my husband finley and our kids getting their snow trampoline on. i love it that elle is getting thrown around. funny that we are about to get blasted again with the snow again on Christmas Eve!

our little maye turned one this summer. she is an absolute doll. she has the most amazing “cheese” whenever we say smile for the camera.

a group of our friends all got together for a lake day this summer. finley and elle are both crusing along on the wakeboard. thanks Paul for teaching us that trick. maybe this summer they’ll be doing it on their own!

ahh, the cousins. we love our cousins. poor silas is always outnumbered whenever the Roddas come to town. the two big girls are 2 days apart. it is so fun to have all these girls gathered around for a tea party and some sprinkler fun!

we got all dressed up for “cow appreciation day” at chick-fil-a. my husband’s goal was to get as much free food as possible, so we went all out. the ladies who rang up our order said that we were some of the most committed customers of the whole day. my kids = total cuteness!

this is probably the picture of the year for our family. we are going to order a bunch of new pictures for the house soon, and this one will be huge. elle and maye went to the other room and when i inquired as to how they were doing, elle responded that she was “working on an art project.” obviously! they came back around the corner, both so proud of their accomplishments. elle for her fantastic artwork, and maye for being such a great subject. it generated 36 comments on facebook back in august! this is an all time family classic.

our kids got to go on “fall retreat” with the student ministry over labor day weekend. they loved the slip-n-slide and the blob the most.

finley and i got to take a trip to chicago in october so that he could run in the chicago marathon. it was incredible to see over 33,000 people run in that race. it was brutally cold that weekend, but we pulled off a little self-timer fun as we were walking along the banks of lake michigan. this one is going in our bedroom for sure.

what a fun treat to watch kids grow up and pray that they love each other and turn out to be loving adults. halloween was such a blast and the kids turned it on once again on our way to the school carnival. i can’t wait to look back in 10 years and remember all these fun memories.

Help-Portrait-NWA

its always amazing to see how life, passion, business, and art seemingly come together in an unexpected fashion at the strangest time. six months or so ago, as i was churning through my daily blogs of differing variety, i stumbled across a few photographers who were kicking around an idea of using their passion and skill to bless others. Help-Portrait was being born…

“Help-Portrait is a community of photographers, coming together from across the world,
to use their photography skills to give back to their community.”

The goal is fairly simple: give pictures…don’t take them. We are so blessed to get to be a part of this exciting time that is going to take place on 12.12.09 (hopefully) all around the world. We are getting to work with some of our amazing friends this coming Saturday in hopes that people will know that they have been created in the image of God.

There are still opportunities to get involved or help give pictures to those in our community. For that matter, anyone with a camera can get out and take a picture of a friend, stranger, or neighbor. be invited to join us in blessing those around us this weekend (and hopefully many more after that).

ashley | missouri senior

ashley came to me from south missouri a few weeks ago to knock out some phenomenal senior pictures. i had photographed her older sister Sarah’s wedding earlier this summer and jumped at the chance to photograph another member of this beautiful family. it seemed like every picture that i snapped of ashley fell into the “most incredible ever” category. she definitely knew how to turn it on for the camera!

this little combination makes my toes tingle :)

crossland | rogers family

wow…the crossland’s make some gorgeous kids! I have gotten to take pictures of them about once a year for the past several years and they always have killer clothes and a hip new theme to each session. this time we broke out the dirt bike boots and capitalized on the blazing fall colors. my little girl Maye even got in on the action!

well, I guess Macy is teaching her boys how to be affectionate, and obviously our little Maye didn’t mind getting her smooch on with her buddy Maddox! let’s just say the apple doesn’t ever fall that far from the tree.
